A Responsible Response to Solar Development
We need Green Energy. We also need Green Spaces.
PLANNING APPLICATION UNDER CONSIDERATION
by the Vale of White Horse District Council
Application No: P25/V1646/FUL
They say:
We do not want an INDUSTRIAL SOLAR POWER STATION beside the River Cole, in the valley below Coleshill village.
This valley is a green space valued when out walking, along the footpath on King's Hill, from the cemetery or many other high viewpoints.
This rural landscape, which supports Grade 3A agricultural land should be preserved.
We are in favour of solar power but in the right place.
More and more of our green spaces, farmland and uplifting landscapes are being swallowed up by unsuitable developments.
The proposed site would mean devastating the landscape in the valley. From rural it would become industrial.
Concerns include:
The construction period would last up to two years: HGVs on Snowswick Lane, from Buscot to the entrance of the site (where Thames Water laid the new pipeline). Traffic would then exit the site from a lane (hard surface) south east of Worsall Farm and return towards Buscot.
Access roads would be hard surface. The battery storage (BESS) area would be hard surface to support 20 shipping containers of lithium batteries.
BESS would be surrounded by a soundproof fence.
The 93,000 solar panels would be surrounded by security fencing.
An independent hydrology report shows that the Flood Risk Assessment submitted by the developers is not accurate. The risk of increased flooding is real.
Important issues include:
This site is NOT suitable for a large Solar Power Station
